The Vyatka Kremlin Arch in the metaverse
2023–2025 — digital conservation
To preserve and reinterpret in digital form a folk landmark of Kirov — the last surviving fragment of the bishop's courtyard fence, known as the Vyatka Kremlin Arch. Not to wait for ideal conditions and large institutional support, but to simply preserve a cultural fragment in time, with the means at hand.
How it was made
The object was shot with a DJI Mini 2 drone, assembled via photogrammetry in RealityCapture, then cleaned and prepared in Blender for display in a virtual space. After uploading to the Spatial platform, the space was further arranged with three exhibition layers.
The digital twin works as a cultural mediator — it restores access to the place for those who cannot be there physically, and records the state of the object in the moment. After the shoot, the physical condition of the arch deteriorated further.
To mark the opening of the virtual space, a series of NFTs was released, created in collaboration with Kirov artist Sasha Glushkova.
